THREE GENERATIONS PARTICIPATE IN FULLER CENTER BUILD

ONE FAMILY’S QUEST TO GIVE BACK AND STAY CONNECTED TO THEIR ROOTS

Voskevaz - Armenians living in the Diaspora have always felt a tug to return to their homeland, or see it for the first time. In recent years, with more and more airlines flying to Armenia, quick and easy visas at the airport, a plethora of options for accommodations and a growing tourism industry, the dream of visiting Armenia is becoming increasingly accessible. According to the Armenian Tourism Development Agency, the Armenian Diaspora represents 62 percent of all tourist arrivals.

It's wonderful to see growing numbers of diaspora Armenians in the country each year, and even more uplifting that many are opting to volunteer during their visit. Another growing trend among Diaspora Armenians is to visit with the entire family, or as many members of the family as possible. We have been following the stories of some of these families, many of whom are here with members representing three generations. And while they all seem to feel a common bond that is strengthened and deepened when they visit their homeland together with their loved ones, each family's stories, their reasons for visiting Armenia and their experiences are unique.

FCH ARMENIA AND ARMENIAN HOPE DEDICATED THE FIRST FOUR HOUSES!

On September 20th, the Fuller Center for Housing (FCH) Armenia and the Armenian Hope Organization celebrated the home-blessing ceremony of the houses of four families in Lusaghbyur, Lori region, a village gravely destructed during the earthquake of 1988.

The Madoyans, Kocharyans, Mkrtchyans, and Marukyans - 28 people in total - that have lived in substandard conditions since 1988, will enjoy their right to decent housing thanks to the fruitful cooperation between the two organizations.

VIVACELL GENERAL MANAGER AND STAFF VOLUNTEERED TO HELP ZALINYAN FAMILY

Today, group of volunteers from VivaCell led by the General Manager Ralph Yirikian engaged in a volunteering activity in Gargar, Lori region by participating in the construction works of  the Zalinyans’ house which is one out of 15 houses sponsored by the company this year.

PARTNERSHIP SIGNED WITH HEIFER PROJECT INTERNATIONAL

200 beneficiary families of Fuller Center for Housing Armenia will receive cows and agricultural training to set up their small farms in order to have additional sources of income.

THE FIRST GLOBAL BUILDERS TEAM IN ARMENIA-MISSION COMPLETE!

Buckets full of concrete pass from hand to hand, full of energy and care. It is the spirit of volunteerism, the desire to help their neighbor that has inspired these wonderful people to travel from New Jersey to Armenia through Fuller Center for Housing.

For Lorraine Voss, 18, this is a first-time experience. “I feel like I have grown in so many ways! I have grown to be a better person and I have grown spiritually”, she said.

On July 8 VivaCell General Manager participated in the home-blessing ceremony of Aslanyan family in Arinj village, and gave the Bible to guide the family throughout their life in the new house.

On May, 24, a beautiful Saturday, the staff of KPMG Armenia teamed up to help the family of Sargsyans in Khor Virap village to complete the interior works of their unfinished house.

"Since 1994 Zalinyans from Gargar had to live in a metal shipping container (domik). It was extremely hard to raise 4 children in such abject conditions - there are no basic amenities, such as running water and sanitation system in the domik"... (Zalinyans, Gargar village)

"They installed a metal container in their yard and moved in together with Arayik’s father, at the same time starting a new house for themselves. More than 15 years have passed, but they have not been able to complete it..." (Yeghshatyans, Vanadzor town)
